My review of Westside Cemetery Halloween event

As many of you know, the list of things to do around the island this Halloween is long.  I love going to local events so I can and recording the event to showcase on my YouTube channel. We have lots of talent and showing the cool talents is something I like to do. Let’s face it we are a unique group of people. Last Year I made It to the west side cemetery, its first year. When I saw that it was back again this year I had to make contact about going to record it. I saw on face book that Jeff was in need of actors . I am going to assume what happens with something like this is people more than likely sign up and then do not show up. As I was reading the ad I thought to myself I wonder maybe I should go volunteer to see just what goes on behind the scene to see how it works. I have never been behind the scenes of anything that I record such as concerts and events. With school I am trying to get outside my comfort level. I went with three friends as well as myself and our three teenage children. Group of six actors coming to help out for the night. We showed up with nothing but black clothes. We had been running late so only had about ten minutes before it opened. In a minutes we had masks, make up, and story lines. Then it was time to set up. As I listened to Jeff talk to the people who came out to help, he explained that they are westside. I was nice to hear him tell them, without them there would be no west side cemetery. As the rain came down he said the number might be down but let’s give them on great show anyway . The whole group were stoked to scare after he spoke, He was very good at motivating all of us. When the rain would not hold off he told us all to get out of the rain under the roof on the step then announced the night was cancelled due to the rain.He gave us all each a t-shirt for coming out with endless thank yous to all. I am glad I went out and did this. I feel like I should have gotten a view from behind the scenes last year as I now understand why he does what he does, and it's simply to share the passion he feels about Halloween. I walked through his display tonight but I did not record anything, I am saving that for the last night. I do not want to ruin the surprise of how amazing this place has turned out. I found myself trying to imagine the amount of time and effort that it must have took for this display compared to last years (last years was cool) But this year it is incredible. I hope the same people who are upset with schools trying to take Halloween out of the educational system are the same people out supporting Jeff and people like him who are doing these things to keep Halloween and the spirit of it alive and going. It would be so sad to see the numbers down so low that it does not keep going. If you went and spent some time there you would see I think it was such a great experience and you would be left wanting more.
